Evangelista Santos is set to undergo surgery to repare a fractured skull, yes, a fractured skull he suffered during his fight against Welterweight phenom Michael Page at last night’s (July 16, 2016) Bellator 158 event in London, England.

In round two, Page connected with a flying knee to the forehead of Santos, who instantly went down for the count in visible pain (full video replay here).
The knee was so vicious, it caused a dent in Evangelista’s forehead and fractured his skull, as Cris Cyborg, ex-wife to the the Bellator MMA veteran, took to Instagram to provide an X-Ray of the damage. According to the post, Santos has not had surgery yet and is still in the hospital as their is concern of possible brain swelling.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help Santos pay for his medical bills. Santos offered up a few words to MMA Fighting.
“I’m under observation now, and will have surgery in the United States. I had a serious injury, but Bellator is giving me all the support I need. I’ll be back soon,” he said, which no has timetable as he isn’t clear to fly yet.
According to Bellator MMA commentator Jimmy Smith, he was told by an former EMT-turned cutman that he had only previously witnessed an injury like that after a severe car crash accident.
